Bandwidth View

This view contains an upper and lower frame. The upper frame shows incoming bandwidth, and the lower frame shows outgoing bandwidth. The position of the divider between the two frames is adjustable by dragging it with the left mouse button.

Bandwidth limiting controls are provided along the top edge of this view. Fixed-rate limits can be enabled, as well as an advanced auto-limit that is regulated by ping-times.

The auto-limit feature works by measuring ping times to your nearest public router and adjusting the bandwidth throttle accordingly. More information about this feature can be found on the Automatic Bandwidth Limiter help page.

If you are using a Cable/DSL internet connection, the auto-limit feature is recommended to get the best performance. Other types of internet connections may also benefit from the use of the auto-throttle feature, so it is best to experiment. There are also advanced seed/trade proportion controls that can be accessed by pressing the Advanced button. This allows better control over the proportion of outgoing bandwidth that will be prioritized for trading purposes (i.e. for peers that may reciprocate any data chunks sent to them) and bandwidth that is used purely for seeding or given to other downloading peers when a transfer has stalled due to lack of useful pieces in the swarm.

A Bandwidth Presets feature is also available that makes frequent throttle changes easy. This feature can be accessed by pressing the Presets button or by right-clicking the tray icon.

Two other view layouts are provided to suit user tastes. A view with a live chart of auto-limit ping times is available, as well as a view with the throttle controls along the right side instead of along the top. They can be accessed by clicking the Layout button in the top-right corner of the view.
