Initial Configuration

This window is presented the first time Tixati is run. It allows the user an opportunity to customize the default settings.

If you are unsure of what to do with the settings in this window, it is usually best to just leave the 'Default Location To Save Downloaded Files' and 'TCP/UDP Port For Peer Connections' default settings as they are but you should either turn on the Automatic Bandwidth Limiter or set an outgoing limit for better results.

Default Location To Save Downloaded Files:
The location where downloaded files are saved is specified in the first setting. Generally, a simple 'downloads' folder on the desktop will work well for most users, however if there are multiple hard-drives and/or partitions in the system it may be desirable to setup the downloads folder on the partition with the most free space.

TCP/UDP Port For Peer Connections:
The TCP and UDP settings default to random port numbers between 10000 and 30000, both with UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) port-forwarding activated. If the UPNP forwarding feature is activated and a UPNP-compatible broadband router is being used to connect to the internet, the specified incoming port will be opened in the router on your public internet IP and connections will be forwarded through the LAN to the machine running Tixati. If you are not using a broadband router, leaving UPNP forwarding activated has no harmful effect.

Bandwidth Throttle:
Here you can set your maximum Outgoing and Incoming bandwidth limits, and/or set the Automatic Bandwidth Limiter.
